오늘은 518 광주 민주화운동 36주년이네요. 영어로는 Democratization Movement, uprising, Massacre라고 하네요...삼가 돌아가신 분들의 명복을 빕니다.

You know my roommate Chul-su really wanted to make a good impression, because he has

 a new job.

but you know he is new on the team and he doesn't know many people there and he was

 nervous.

And I told him, "Listen! Whatever other people say, just be yourself!"

And he said, "Yeah, but, I don't know. I wanna talk to the boss but I, I barely know him.

 What should I do?"

I told him, "No, never give up."

And he promise to me, "John, I won't give up till I reach the end."

So hopely things are work out for him at work.

give up은 포기하다/그만두다/항복하다 등의 뜻이 있습니다.

- give in은 처음에는 반대하고 받아 들이지 않다가 어쩔 수 없이 동의하다 라는 의미입니다.

abandon은 버리다 라는 뜻입니다.

surrender는 항복하다 라는 뜻입니다.

I finally gave in to his demands 나는 결국 그의 요구 사항들을 받아 드렸다.

The soldiers abandoned the injured and surrendered to the enemy.

그 군인들은 부상자를 버리고 적에게 항복했다.
